I have been looking for one for a long time because I am at work so often that I find my coffee cold and tasteless and in winter weather now on the way happens much faster when I put my cup down somewhere. I received a "mug warmer" that was useless (a "mustard" USB stick that looks like a big biscuit) and trying to figure out why, the reviews from my fellow Revain buyers (thanks everyone who post reviews!) that they are all basically useless, as their performance was reduced many years ago in response to concerns that the coffee might be getting "too" hot for coffee drinkers. Suing people for such ridiculous things. For example, is someone else to blame for spilled coffee? Anyhow, it's obviously one that still has decent performance, and it plugs into a regular outlet (not the little USB port), has a switch right next to the heater, a light that tells you that it's made out of some really high quality materials, a solid ceramic floor and a high quality 'hot plate' as the heating surface. And it's all true! It has everything and is a great product. I am very happy with it. Another thing I learned from Revain reviews about these various heaters is a secret most manufacturers don't tell you, or tell you in very small print, that you need a flat-bottomed mug/mug. Well, this is so important, I can't believe their manufacturers aren't required to state "ONLY WORKS WITH FLAT BOTTED GLASS / MUG" as a disclaimer or usage notice, because when I was looking through my mug inventory at work, and NO houses have a flat bottom, and many have a bottom that curves up so it never touches the surface of the hotplate area. Low wattage aside, the other issue is that many cups don't even make enough contact with a heating pad to even get warm, even with the thing pumping out a decent wattage. The same day I went to Starbucks for coffee, I had a flat-bottomed mug hung in front of me for Christmas! And, looks very cool, I would add metal as well, so a great conductor of heat! How about?! So I went back to the office, washed the cup, poured some half-warm coffee and lit the heating pad. The first fifteen minutes or so. The coffee didn't get colder, but it didn't get warmer either, and while I claimed it held the temperature rather than increasing it, I was hoping it might also warm up an existing drink a bit, so I waited. Has about half an hour passed? The coffee got warmer! And over time, this thing has become more than a heating pad - it has become a "warmer" for coffee! In fact I left it there for a while just for fun to see how hot it could get and after about an hour it almost started smoking which is amazing! So I'd say it definitely retains heat, like a heating pad on top of a decent coffee pot. If the coffee had been hot when I put it on, it would no doubt have stayed that way, but it's nice to know that even lukewarm coffee can actually drink "hot coffee" again. I mean, not that I wanted a cup of coffee that sat idly by for three hours, but I was just really impressed with it and now I've found a solution to give up cold coffee, especially since I'm not a fan of reheating Dine in the Nuke-O-Wave oven. Great product and of course with the right mug it's just what you need to keep your coffee nice and hot and even salvaging a mug that gave me a cold somewhere. Highly recommended! Thanks for reading and I hope this helped! Thanks again to the other reviewers - all the detailed reviews of the many other products featured here and this one helped me find what I needed.
