Review on CalPalmy Rabbit Chinchilla Galesaur Animals Small Animals by Marcus Cross

I bought this litter box hoping it would minimize the amount of hay and poop I have to clean up on a daily basis. My bunny is a lion head and has VERY fluffy paws so he always picks up a lot of poo when he leaves his litter box. I wanted to use this tray with the hay basket but unfortunately my rabbit doesn't eat much hay out of the hay basket. So I just put some hay on the litter box, but I tried to move it out of the way so my poo can get in the middle of the litter box. Stuck poop in a box! Now I still have some stray poops, but a lot less than before. I also think the drawer has a great design that should (in theory) make cleaning easier. The product also comes with 3 pee pads which was a nice touch. When I first used the tray I placed a pee pad in the bottom of the box with some wood pellets on top just for extra odor control and absorption. Unfortunately, when I pulled out the drawer to clean the tray, all of the wood stove pellets (sawdust now soaked in urine) and feces fell to the bottom of the grate and spilled under the tray. Next time I tried using a lot less firewood pellets but I had the same problem. Since the height of the box is so low I don't think you can use wood pellets on the urine pad. That means I'll probably have to change the tray more often than I used to. Urine pads don't really absorb a lot of urine. So I'm not sure what the solution is. Maybe putting a tray under the tray will help? Overall I'm very happy with the design of this tray, but I definitely need to find a better solution to collect urine and clean the tray.
