Review on πŸ‹οΈ Wahoo Fitness TICKR FIT: High-Performance Heart Rate Monitor Armband - Bluetooth/ANT+ Connectivity - Sleek Black Design by Rashad Ross

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Unreliable. loses connection. stuck. Garbage.

My first rating of the TICKR was 5 stars. And in the beginning it was well deserved. But over time, TICKR FIT became less and less reliable. Eventually I got fed up and contacted Wahoo Support. They sent me a replacement and it suffers from the same reliability issues. To be honest this is a trend I've seen with Wahoo products. They seem to make good products, but these products don't last! I have a few things from them and this is a really constant, big issue with Wahoo hardware. So what's up with TICKR? Well, he refuses to keep in touch with my BOLT. It goes out for 10-15 seconds at a time, multiple times per trip. Some rides are 100% perfect with no issues. On other trips I have 6, 8, even 10 drops over 20-25 miles. I ride the same gear every day with the TICKR strapped to the same spot on my arm every ride, and yet it works very, very inconsistently. In other cases, even if the connection does not "break". , it just doesn't get updated anymore. So I'm at 150 bpm, stop and rest, and after 2 minutes my heart rate is still 150 bpm. Well, that's clearly not the case, trust me. In other cases the opposite is true. I'll move at 120bpm and then make a big climb - I'll get to the top and you know I'm still at 120bpm. Obviously not, again, trust me. Wahoo seems to blame interference, but it doesn't matter if I ride with or without an Apple Watch, I have these issues. My speed/cadence sensor (Bontrager) doesn't suffer from dropouts. And my old TICKR (not FIT) chest strap NEVER falls off either. So I don't think it's my BOLT and I don't think it's an interference issue. I just think TICKR FIT is rubbish. I'm not a fan of chest straps, otherwise I would just go back to my old TICKR. This thing is reliable and works well (but like most Wahoo products, it has its own problems: I've been through 2 straps in a year, both snapped at the buckles. Another poor quality control from Wahoo. Buyers beware). So, I'm looking for a new heart rate monitor on my arm. Reading DC Rainmaker I'm pretty sure I know what I'm going to buy. It's also very likely that I bought my latest Wahoo product. I love this company but they just don't seem able to make durable products. My partner and I have had great luck with Wahoo products that have stood the test of time. So life is.
