Review on πŸ”’ Optimized for SEO: Silverhill Tools ATKBAS 2.25 inch Locking Suction Cups for iMac & Apple Computer Repair by Michael Nard

Terrible to work with iMac, don't buy those suction cups.

I bought these mugs to help remove and then replace the glass panel (which weighs only a few pounds) on my 2009 iMac when replacing an old hard drive. I thought that was the job they were made for, as their name suggests, but I was terribly wrong. These cups aren't exactly smooth. Therefore, if you enclose them, they do not support suction. One gave me more blocking issues than the other, but when I was working in a hurry, they were enough to get the glass off the iMac. After the hard drive installation was complete, I reattached the cups to ensure they were as secure as possible. When lifting the glass to put it back in place, one cup lost suction and the glass suddenly started falling. Gravity alone was enough to loosen the second cup as well. The pane of glass fell on my desk and shattered everywhere. Holding the suction cups in each hand, I faced the complete destruction of the glass pane and a very dangerous mess that needed to be cleaned up. I do not recommend anyone to buy these suction cups for lifting/moving any type of glass. They can work well on smooth plastic but are NOT reliable on glass. Now I have to find a replacement lens for about $150, all because those poor little suckers couldn't do their job. If you're doing the same task as above, I'd recommend using these mugs instead - https://www. ifixit.com/Store/Parts/Heavy-Duty-Suction-Cups-Pair/IF145-023-2 They're more expensive and don't ship as quickly as Revain, but they save you a $150 headache and pay for themselves. This is the worst product I have ever bought from Revain.
