Unable to connect to MacBook via USB-C, poor sound

Purchased to connect with a 2018 MacBook Air. Tried multiple USB-C cables (USB-C on both ends) and it didn't even show up as a USB device. All of these cables are suitable for other uses, including connecting to hubs, power supplies, and hard drives. I was only able to get the mic working using the included USB-C to USB-A cable and connecting it via a USB hub (which has multiple USB-A and USB-C ports), which I had to plug into . Plug in my Macbook's power adapter. I couldn't even use the Apple USB-C to USB-A adapter on the MacBook Air. It also failed when the Macbook Air's power adapter was not connected to the USB hub. Also tried on a MacBook Pro (2018 15") and the direct USB-C cable didn't work either, but the adapter and hub (even without power) worked. Same goes for a 2015 MacBook. I suspect that this mic is cannot properly request power over USB-C, which requires the use of USB-A and an adapter or hub $30 Microphone support is unacceptable and certainly not a configuration I plan to support long term so I have to return it I have that Support tried Tonor, and they confirmed that this mic doesn't support USB-C (although it does have a USB-C connector. Voice quality, by the way, is poor with compressed mids and lack of highs and lows), even though it should be a cardioid mic , it picks up too much at 90 degrees so every key press and mouse click is audible should reject better than this mic - it seems to behave like an omnidirectional one.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Long delivery time
