Our 10 year old Bissell Proheat 2x started to break down and eventually stopped spattering so I figured it was time to buy something new. Our old machine had separate containers for water and soap, it heated the water to less than 190 degrees and just worked - fabulous. It has been used regularly 2-3 times a year in our Hawaii rental to remove beach sand, red dirt and other stains and stains left by our guests. The carpet was always cleaned like new and I could count on my favorite old car being worth the tedious work. Enter this new car. Designed in purple and green inspired by the sneakers, I immediately noticed that it's a lot smaller and lighter than the old machine. The old "tank-in-tank" water tank was replaced with separate tanks for clean and dirty water, but the soap dispenser was gone and no more heated water. Damn. But! The new machine was easy to disassemble for cleaning, revealing back alleys that used to collect dirt, hair and carpet fibers, clogging the suction nozzles and reducing productivity - hooray! Yesterday I set out to clean the carpet in our 14 x 16 foot living room and figured it would take about an hour as has always been done in the past. As I used the machine, I noticed that it didn't seem to hold much water, but I thought maybe I'm just not used to the new design. Two hours later, the soles of my bare feet told me otherwise. I moved forward and back and forward and back and forward. Three hours, then four hours. What the hell? Okay, maybe it's the humidity. No, it just wasn't sucking water out of the carpet, so I got on my hands and knees (wetting them in the process) and took a closer look at the base of the machine. It took about a minute to realize that when you flip the handle back with a full tank of clean water, the front of the machine and suction ports rise and barely glide across the carpeted surface. The base isn't heavy enough to make constant contact with the carpet, and the smaller you are, the more you tilt the handle until you're wading through wet, muddy carpet. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! I quickly looked for a solution to the problem and found that if you put extra weight on the base of the machine, it immediately starts vacuuming up the remaining water and within 30 minutes the carpet was already dried and "combed". " as we always did with our old machine. In a total of five hours I was done. If you decide to buy this machine, just remember that you need to put something on the base to hold the carpet really hard to clean, like a bottle of laundry detergent, or maybe a five-pound sack of rice (Hawaii has plenty of those), or maybe even a small child โ they can help you find the areas of the carpet that need the most attention .
