PRO-MSTDP3DP works great

I just received the PRO-MSTDP3DP, it fits my configuration perfectly (3x23 inch displays with a resolution of 1920x1080 @ 60Hz). It's a shame that there is only one review for this device. it is negative and provides no details. You need to confirm that your GPU (graphics chipset) in your PC supports DisplayPort 1.2. Here's the hardware that worked out of the box with Win10 and Ubuntu 19.10: * Displays (3): Dell U2312HM 23" (uses DP 1.1a but hub doesn't matter, $80 each at MicroCenter) * Notebook 1: Lenovo T460S with Ultra Dock (40A20090US), Intel HD Graphics 520 * Notebook 2: HP ProBook 650 G4 with HP Ultraslim Dock Station ( D9Y32AA#ABA), GPU is Intel HD Graphics 620. For some reason these integrated Intel GPUs (Skyline) work fine on Windows and Linux. Screens and cannot be expanded. This GPU was much older: AMD Radeon HD 8490. Based on the HW specs it should work fine: DP 1.2, HBR2, MST. I blame that on the Radeon driver, which seems to have broken the MST. When I try to pass the kernel parameter radeon.mst=1 I get a black screen. It has nothing to do with this MST hub. I'm just telling a story in case anyone here having a similar experience, I doubt it's anything to do with to do with the hub. Additional comments: * It's powered by Micro-USB, which is fine. Would like a stronger plug * The body is extruded aluminum so is quite stiff. * I had to add a 3ft DP extension (male to female) as the source side is very short. * The price is great - $66. In other places usually 2-3 times more.

Pros
  • Computer cable adapter
Cons
  • A few little things
