No night vision. The light stays on or off. Motion detection is excellent with multiple sensitivity settings. Detects a human silhouette in the dark only when sensitivity is set to maximum. I use 2 lightbulbs in my house. It is very effective at night, it detects very weak light from a mobile phone. At night with low sensitivity is more like a light sensor. Outdoors will be too sensitive to light changes. My front door has a large glass so it does what I need it to do. It gives me a high when there is movement during the day and a minimal light suddenly appears at night. The included 32GB card is a plus, there's plenty of storage. I feel safer at home. The app allows me to control my place from any distance. Sometimes you have to close and reopen the app to keep getting notifications. This is inherent in any Internet application. Better than expected for the price. I use long gooseneck extensions to align the camera the way I want it. Could get 2 more and point them at the bedroom windows.
