We purchased this Hario V60 size 02 olive wood glass coffee filter in June 2020 and have been happy with it so far. The glass dropper and the olive wood holder are a feast for the eyes. Plus, thanks to a bunch of great YouTube videos on how to make coffee with the V60, we've developed a reliable way to brew the perfect cup of coffee every morning. Unfortunately, we recently noticed black mold growing inside the coffee maker. Olive wood drip holder groove. As Hario suggests in the user guide, we wipe the mount with a tea towel every time we use it to remove water as it absorbs moisture from brewing the coffee, even when you place the black silicone element securely in the wooden mount. And we never left it in water. Although the part of the mold groove does not come into direct contact with the coffee, we are concerned about possible contamination of the coffee if the mold is exposed to heat and moisture during brewing. Does this only happen to our owner? Should we stop using it or are we too cautious? I really like the look of this glass V60 with an olive wood stand, but if I decide to buy it again I will go for the ceramic.
