I bought these hoping to save a few bucks on a pair of winter pants and was pleasantly surprised. They kept me warm and mostly dry, but the material they were made of was more like tarp, paper noise and stuck to the snow when I sat or knelt and the pants wore out faster. However, they served my purpose for my trip to Lake Tahoe, but they certainly work well as a quick alternative. I'm 5'8" and have a curvier figure with curvy hips, a chubby tummy and a small butt so I bought XL and they fit pretty well except for the elastic at the bottom of the leg which has gotten worse over time is slipping up at the moment.
