The sheer weight of these bases in the box spoke of quality but when I opened the box (which was an original Franklin brand box). The bases were pretty gross. They had a greasy/oily substance and in the unlikely event that this is a natural by-product of production, dirt/trash was also attached to it. It looked like the dried leaves were broken and stuck to the grease/oil. I'm pretty inconsiderate with orders and if they were for me I'd just brush them and shrug but this is a gift for my nieces and nephews. Sure, Revain has generally responded and a replacement set is on the way, but it's still not cool to order a 'new' product and get something you can wash your hands just by touching. Let's hope the next set is actually new.
