I bought these for my 11U baseball team and they are perfect for training on fields that may be bigger or smaller than we need. The bases are made out of a thick, rubbery material and should last for years until the guys start using metal spikes (a few more years at least). Because of their thickness, they aren't as light as some of the other temporary base options, but I would prefer to have the strength that comes with thickness.

I've bought deluxe coasters, a convertible version, and other lightweight options for kids and they're worth it. Additional costs. They're heavy enough to stay in place while playing and light enough for kids to clean up afterwards. They move when you slip inside, but remain in place during normal play. The floors aren't slippery on the surface like other options, so you won't lose your footing when you hit the ground, even when it's wet. The bases are slightly elevated above the playing…

The sheer weight of these bases in the box spoke of quality but when I opened the box (which was an original Franklin brand box). The bases were pretty gross. They had a greasy/oily substance and in the unlikely event that this is a natural by-product of production, dirt/trash was also attached to it. It looked like the dried leaves were broken and stuck to the grease/oil. I'm pretty inconsiderate with orders and if they were for me I'd just brush them and shrug but this is a gift for my nieces

For the $20 I paid for the full set (without rubber strips), I'm very happy with the weight and quality of the base. Each base probably weighs a few pounds and seems very solid. Much better than the really thin light flimsy base. On a level hall floor, they hold in place much better due to their weight. They handle grass well and are great toss in the trunk to play with the kids (or their friends) or at a family picnic. I think if you really need those bases to get stuck in the grass I would…
