I bought a litter box (Merry Cat litter box: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006YIY558) and after 2 years the bottom of the cabinet was completely destroyed. I ordered another cabinet and decided this time I would protect the floor by lining it with a garbage mat. So far this works very well. The length is PERFECT for the Merry Cat vanity bench. Although it's a bit wider, I like the fact that the sides of the rug curve towards the wall unit as this prevents too much accidental dirt from getting underneath. Cat paws before leaving the closet. I've noticed that there's a lot less debris directly behind it. In terms of quality, the carpet is very heavy and durable. It seems sturdy and waterproof. However, it can feel quite sticky when you hold it in your hands. If you live in a small apartment like me, you will find that the carpet can be difficult to clean. You can certainly go outside to shake it out, but that won't get rid of the debris (and even the little sticky bits of stray poo) that can get stuck between the plastic fibers. When something is deep in the fibers, it is VERY DIFFICULT to get it out. I'm not sure how other people do it. A durable garden hose? Unfortunately I don't have access to one. Trying to clean it with Lysol also resulted in some of the dirt becoming more stubbornly lodged under the fibers. Despite being difficult to clean, this is a hard wearing rug at a good price. Much better than others I've had before.
