It's well made with a nice bust lining that gives an empire line at the front. The material is not too thin, soft enough, stretches but keeps its shape. I'm an x-small which is a bit big for my average height of almost 3 years. As expected, but she doesn't mind. It will probably fit larger 3-year-olds or those closer to 4-year-olds that have room to grow and stretch, and the quality seems high enough that it might be very good value for the long-term use. This is a matte fabric with no sheen or shimmer. We love it.
