Before buying this litter I was sitting on a capybara mat. My cats have never been out of the crate, but the capybara is roomy, easy to vacuum, and had a few raised dots on the bottom to protect my hardwood floors. I bought this there was some junk outside the box and up the next flight of stairs. It probably reduced junk tracking by 50%, but I'm not sure I'd buy it again. Cleaning your carpet sounds easy, but it's not. I vacuum every day, but there is a lot of garbage. To get everything you have to take it outside and give it a good shake - which I almost never do. Also the underside of the mat is sticky rubber plastic and you need something underneath if you have wooden floors.
