Review on 🌍 Honeywell S8610U3009 International Module: Enhanced Performance and Versatility by Paul Monzon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works, but be careful with the installation and check the current draw before blaming the controller module!

This module has been running for 3 months now with no problems. It replaced an older model that had no fault/diagnostic codes nor sensor points to measure flame current (in microamps). I think the new features are a nice update that will make it easier to diagnose crashes in the future. Reasonable price! A few things to consider when installing: 1.) If the input power is generally unstable (my voltage was low, somewhere between 14-20 volts, but normal at times, due to an unreliable relay that I have since replaced, I've also heard of a guy who used this controller in a homebrewing situation and his use of diodes to "prevent power supply" also caused the same problem, presumably by halving the voltage, but I'm not Electrician.), You may get a diagnostic trouble code stating "Damper Error" even if, like in my case, you don't have a damper hooked up and never had one. Suffice it to say, if you get this code, especially if you don't have a damper, check your power intake! 2.) Your old controller could use 24V and 24V ground and TH-W was marked "opt" or "optional"; the new controller requires the 24V connection to be switched to TH-W, which apparently is no longer necessary!

Pros
  • Top marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Disappearing
