This tool is honestly less of an issue than the fact that this type of filter is primarily a POS setting. Most people don't understand that this type of oil filter is not suitable for your engine. Baxter Performance of Washington State sells adapter plates to convert most of these applications to traditional spin-on filters. They're not cheap, but they're cheaper than long engine wear from long dry starts. I also recommend only using filters with check valves.
