Revainrating 4 out of 5

Really reliable device which I found fault with the star.

I generally like this little guy a lot. It has a full keyboard unlike other mini keyboards I've looked at, it includes a lot of IR buttons so I can do more than just turn on the TV and change the volume, installation is pretty easy and overall it has a pretty A solid feel as it will last at least a year or two. All my cons so far are pretty minor. There are two things that combined to result in the loss of a star, but I'd also like to see more color options as clearly multi-colored LEDs already exist. First, the setting for IR learning needs to be very accurate. . The instructions say 1 inch. I worked best at a 1 centimeter gap, and I had to center the shiny part of the pad perfectly. However, once I got everything aligned, IR learning took about 30 seconds to calibrate the buttons and no TV codes were required. Because it learns from your remote, I was able to enter a special permission key for my TV that universal remotes never properly understand. I also had a couple of buttons that I didn't use on my TV, so since I bought it in the first heat of the year I've hooked up my air conditioner's power button to it. You can put different devices on each button, but that can be a bit wasteful and confusing. Overall the IR feature made me prefer this model to the cheaper one and I can't blame the manufacturer for the tricky settings as it's a new feature this year but the IR learning could have been better in later models . a bit so it doesn't have to be perfectly aligned. The second thing that contributed to the loss of a star was the keyboard's responsiveness. Maybe my fingers didn't press the keys hard enough, but I had a bit of a problem recognizing each key press. I wouldn't use this device as a keyboard for my day-to-day novel writing (I wouldn't use a wireless keyboard for that), but as long as you're paying attention to your typing, press firmly and don't block the signal. Obstacles in the recipient's path shouldn't cause you many problems. I have several wireless input devices and it's certainly not the worst I've had, but I wouldn't count on it. If the manufacturer included better keyboard responsiveness (both how the keys responded to the computer and a way to tell if I actually pressed a key), that would be the best way to improve on this model. Again, given the many different things this pad does, I can't blame it for the messy signal, but combined with my other issue, it's enough to drop a star in the rating. All in all it's really good. , and the IR learning function was well worth the extra price compared to older models. Color choices, ease of setup and responsiveness could be improved, but if I were a teacher it would probably be an A-, right before a B, but still an A.
