SV565UTPU Overview

There is some confusion as to why the SV565UTPU is a power strip and not a power strip and switch. StarTech doesn't describe the functionality very well. The host end of the extender alternates between local/console control of KVM and sending a KVM signal to the remote console. The remote console can switch between remote control of the main PC and local control of the second PC. Therefore, it can be considered a two-port KVM at the remote end, which is a nice feature compared to similar extenders. In terms of performance, the video signal from the local PC at the far end is decent. Video quality for remote host control is acceptable, but sufficient for my application where video quality is not of the utmost importance. Toggling the screen resolution requires some cryptic key combinations that might not work for regular users. I wouldn't recommend this for those expecting high quality videos, but it's pretty functional for servers.

  • Very impressive
Cons
