Review on ๐ง Gates 33079 OE Type Engine Coolant Thermostat: Superior Performance and OEM Compatibility by Lee Wilson
Not expensive - easy to change.
For normal engine operation, start it at the calculated temperature. Change the coolant as recommended and replace the thermostat while it was drained. My temp sensor has always been on the bottom. I thought it was a gauge or sensor. They turned out to be fine, but the thermostat was weak and not maintaining the temperature.
