Original HP cartridges are great, but a set of four cartridges costs almost $500, but there has to be a better way. my copies. It didn't harm the car, but it was frustrating to keep changing and hoping the next one wouldn't leak. Regardless, with a 1 in 2 failure rate, I still spent about half the cost of HP's originals. Then I tried True Image after reading some positive reviews. So far everything is working fine. There are no cartridge failures. The only problem for humans is to change the chip from the original cartridge to a replacement cartridge (see picture). This must be done every time you change cartridges. The first time I did it it took about 20 minutes and I was nervous I was going to screw it up or something. I've done this a dozen times and it only takes about 2 minutes. True Image provides tools and clear instructions with every purchase. Your HP printer will continue to give you a "Toner Low" message, but just ignore it until you notice the printouts disappear. You can also go into the settings menu and specify that "Cartridge Policy" and "Cartridge Protection" should be disabled (see image). With True Image cartridges, I can get good quality copies for about a cent each. Two thumbs up!
