My daughter has very coarse curly hair which she loves. But sometimes she dreams of loose beachy waves or even straight hair. She has a great iron that she says doesn't work as well as it used to. So I ordered it for her and she loves it. She's not 100% sure about the iron yet, and her lack of perfect results could be due to user error. She likes the angle of the straightener, the curve defines the ends, not the straight bun that looks awful. She is unsure if the iron will perform as well as her previous iron before it lost some of its power. However, she will try again. But curling irons did her good. The curling iron helped loosen up some of the tight curls she had, although she got the best results after using a flat curling iron and THEN a spiral curling iron. The curls of her hair are too tight to wrap around a flat iron and the curls shouldn't be much more relaxed. The iron heats up very quickly and gets very, very hot. While you most likely don't need a protective glove with a straightener, it's highly recommended that you use one with a curling iron. These curling irons work by twisting your hair around the shaft, so it's important to protect your hands, especially when you reach the last section of your hair. Heats up to 430 F which is great. Supplied with barrels, case, glove, instructions. The iron doesn't look ceramic, maybe she had less luck with that and that's why I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Such a set should have ceramic-coated plates to reduce frizz. I don't see this advertised anywhere on the list.
