Active gain, active antenna works great with small GPS units with external antenna. You will usually get an antenna, but generally not a higher gain active antenna. These "as supplied" antennas work moderately well outdoors, but indoor GPS needs a bit more gain. These antennas work very well indoors. Place a 5 cm x 5 cm thin sheet of steel as a soil layer under the antenna and the antenna will operate at maximum gain. Used in my lab for accurate indoor satellite imagery and works very well. Use only with GPS modules that provide 3-5V DC for active antennas. Some GPS modules don't have this, so check your GPS module before purchasing.
