Review on ๐Ÿšต Gavin Pro MTB Shoe: Quick Lace, ideal for SPD Cleat Compatible Mountain Biking by Adam Abner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good shoes for your money.

I was looking to buy a pair of Shimano MT701s but decided to see if there were a cheaper pair that might be worth checking out. Gavin MTB shoes get five stars for their money. I've used them for about 7 or 8 rides and they seem to be holding up well. I typically ride about 12 miles on a single XC trail. The fit seems to be sized right and they have a fairly roomy toe box. Not big enough for my foot to move but just enough to be comfortable moving. The Boa system works well. I sprayed some WD 40 on the mechanism to keep it running smoothly. Outsole stiffness seems almost right for an XC/Trail shoe. There's a slight flex, but not much. The general wearing comfort is good. I didn't notice any hot spots after riding. My SPD spikes were easy to install and stayed in place. The shoe goes well with my XTR Trail pedals. One issue I've noticed is that the top tip of the boa (at the tip of the tongue) doesn't have a guide to keep it in place. I see this area wearing down or cutting into the tongue. over time and was somewhat accommodating in that it could slip through the tongue. So far it hasn't been a problem.
