As a professional automotive electrician, I appreciate a well designed and built tool when I see one. This is a very well-made test device. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of new devices like it, but it's exactly the same as the original device that was made years ago. About 15 years ago I bought one of these instruments and used it to earn my living. I still have this original, it's so useful even though it's showing its age. When this no-frills tool became available, I grabbed it. It measures the presence of positive and negative voltage in the circuit. It also allows you to insert either a positive voltage signal or a negative voltage signal. It also has a ground strap for testing where needed. This allows various devices on the vehicle to be activated to perform active tests. There really is no need for all the bells and whistles of more expensive instruments. If you know what you're doing, that and a voltmeter will do pretty much all you need. With the exception of computer work, which has completely different needs and knowledge requirements. The kit includes an instrument with a green/red LED light to indicate positive or negative presence. Ground wire and about 15 feet of wire with a red and black clip for connecting to the battery. Have been using mine for about a month now and it hasn't missed a beat yet.
