Review on Black/Blue BlueAnt Ribbon Stereo Bluetooth Streamer - Bluetooth Headset by Kelly Porter

Great concept, poor implementation

I wanted to like this streamer, but I just couldn't get over the recurring audio dropouts. I bought it to use at work. I usually have headphones in my ears most of the day and they are connected to my phone on the other end. Usually once or twice a day I forget I'm tied to the phone that I leave on the table and end up pulling the headphones out of my ears or out of the phone. When I saw this for about $25 I figured it would be a quick and easy fix. Pairing with my phone was easy. The instructions are simple and clear. I tested it for a few minutes, holding the streamer in one hand and the phone in the other. I found that the signal stopped when I fully extended my arms (about 5.5 feet). I had to get them up about 3-4 feet to get a solid signal. Not very good but I thought it would be bearable. Then I put my phone on the table and clipped the streamer to my shirt pocket. The total distance between them was about 2 feet. I found the audio quality to be good, but I still lost the sound for a split second every few minutes. The drops were short-lived, but they irritated me. I knew I couldn't stand this so I sent the streamer back. I liked everything about this streamer including the design and the headphones. I haven't had similar issues with other Bluetooth devices I currently own (Bose Soundlink, Jawbone Jambox, Plantronics headset). Maybe version 2.0 is better.
