I've been wanting to get one of these ever since I saw the youtube appliance guy 'Technology Connections' talk about how people in the US don't use these like the rest of the world. He went on to demonstrate how these kettles are the fastest way to boil water compared to gas/electric/induction stovetops.Ah, the joys of Fear Of Missing Out!We got this today, and I set it up right out of the box in a jiffy. Filled it with water and let it do its magic. Took about 4 minutes to reach a full rumbling boil. This would take about 10 minutes by electric stovetop. I steeped my tea and enjoyed. My daughter was already planning to use this for hot chocolate. I am thinking, boil the water, pour in a cup with cocoa mix, add some milk to chill it enough for drinking! This is kettle has a nice old timey look to it. You mileage may vary, but I like it.A couple of observations that subtract 1 star from an otherwise stellar review:The spout is crazy sharp and pointy. Seriously, you could use this thing as a lethal weapon. I would mitigate this safety issue by keeping the rubber cap you can put over it, and doing so after use.The on/off button is a horizonal flipper switch near the base of the kettle. From a design standpoint, it would be easy to accidentally flip it. With that said, I would mitigate that by keeping it unplugged when not in use.
