I have an HP EliteBook 840 G6. There is Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type-C). I connected it to an HP USB-C G5 Dock. I'm trying to display an image on a TCL 55R615 TV. This dock has HDMI 2.0 output, but it's not HDMI 2.0a so it can't play 4k HDR. (Source: Wikipedia) To be on the safe side, I tested it with a Monoprice "Premium High Speed" and output 4K. but NOT in HDR. (The HDMI specification states that cables rated "Standard" and "High Speed" will not work and you need cables rated "Premium" for 4K HDR. Source: Wikipedia) The dock has a DisplayPort 1.4 output, that supports 4K HDR.
