I thought trading cards were priced a little high until I discovered that they actually have an integrated chip that can be read and written to ! Suddenly the price seems pretty reasonable. I originally thought you were only going to use them to add new characters to your game, and they are, BUT you can also use them to design a house in Happy Home Designer, save to the map, and the custom house you create in Animal Crossing load. : Amiibo Festival along with the character! The cards are also used in the amiibo festival mini-games! I'm sure there are other uses that I haven't discovered yet, but these features alone are enough to convince me to buy multiple packs. I bought 8 6-packs (48 cards) and may have 8 duplicates. Not bad, maybe even better than the ratio on sports cards. There are 100 unique cards in this set. I've seen traders, sellers, and buyers on Craigslist and ebay helping people complete their kits. If you're an AC fan and are just buying them for demo purposes, the overall cost may be questionable. However, if you actually use them in-game, they're more than worth buying! Each set of 6 cards has 5 regular characters and 1 special character (with extended coverage). The WiiU and the "new style" 3DS-XL have built-in card readers. Original 3DS and previous-gen 3DS-XL users must purchase a white hockey puck-shaped NFC reader/writer to use them.
