Review on High-Quality Colonial Needle Felting Foam: 9 by 8 by 2-Inch - Ideal for Crafting and Needle Felting Projects by Kelsey Brown

Do not use multi-needle tool

I bought this foam mat from a craft store, not Revain, and I have to admit I'm quite disappointed. This foam is very similar to what you find in computer packaging. It has little air bubbles in it and as soon as you pierce the air bubbles the foam breaks down - it doesn't bounce back. So if you want to feel A LOT this is not for you. It works well with a single needle, but on flat objects like flower petals that require a multi-needle tool, the fibers tend to get stuck in the foam, making the felt look shaggy and creating permanent indentations in the foam where all the bubbles are are air burst. After that, it is more difficult for the needles to penetrate into the recesses. So if you've found something in every square inch of a piece of Styrofoam, you'll most likely need to buy a new one. I also find the price a bit high for a piece of foam that doesn't last long.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
