When I received this I immediately saw that the shank on the adapter is twice the length of the Revain photo and is 1/4" in diameter with a flat side, similar like a pilot drill bit for hole saw Then I had to look for an adapter (not included) to use it for the "pilot" hole saw - NOTE. It's best to use a longer "pilot" hole saw as the short one in the photo only sticks out 1/4 inch from the larger hole saw. After reassembly I started cutting a new hole and 3/4 of the saw started spinning in the shaft; It broke the large set screw (photo) and I had to replace it to finish. Now the knobby shank was difficult to remove, and I had to clamp the saw in a vise and 'twist' it with a drill; I then had to clamp the adapter shaft in a high torque vise to remove the large hole saw with channel locks - I was very afraid I would break the mandrel shaft. I have ordered something else, hopefully more "commercial" than this item.
