Inexpensive headphone amp

Headphone amps are great for driving and reproducing the rich sound in headphones, especially when they are open and high impedance. However, good headphone amplifiers that really enhance the sound instead of just controlling the volume usually cost some money. That was until this amazing device came along. Before this headphone amp, the Fiio amp series was the best and cheapest amp that improved the sound. And as you can see, this amp is very similar to popular amps. However, this amp is made by Lvy, and while it may not be as good as the Fiio series, it does the job of enhancing your headphones. I have Sennheiser HD 599 headphones and they are pretty good without the amp connected. It has a mid-range impedance of 50 ohms, so it is not difficult to drive it with common devices such as smartphones, computers, TVs, etc. However, this amp has improved the sound by making the bass, treble and mids clearer. and it really created a soundstage. So much so that using these headphones alongside listening to music is an event, as they appear to mimic a spatial sound field, making on-screen activities feel like 3D surround sound, and I don't mean the fake version that sounds like you are there wiretapping in the tunnel. The amp features a volume control and a high/low gain switch to determine how hard the amp should drive the headphones. I have it with low gain as I've found that high gain affects it too much and can be overwhelming. On the other hand, my headphones don't need much drive, so the high gain might be okay for 300 impedance headphones like the HD 600. The headphones also come with a USB charger that can be plugged into your computer and any other device with enough power to charge. Note. For some devices, connecting the USB charging cable may cause noise when you are still using the amplifier. When the indicator turns blue, the amp is ready to use and will run for many hours before needing to be recharged. The only drawback is the supplied headphone cable. It is very thin and seems to break easily. I think the cost should have been cut somewhere. Thankfully, this is a standard 3.5mm patch cord and not a custom industrial cable that costs a lot of money to replace. This means you can easily replace it with a better one. Conclusion: A great amplifier for the price. I'm sure there are pricier amps out there that will drive headphones better and make them sound more realistic and alive, but this amp does the job. You'll immediately notice the difference in your music as it sounds much better, especially if you have a pair of open-back audiophile headphones.
