Review on πŸ“» BAOFENG BF-F8HP Dual Band Two-Way Radio: 8-Watt Power, VHF 136-174MHz & UHF 400-520MHz, Full Kit with Large Battery by Brandon Barrett

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good radio: Radios

I have both an HP BF-F8 and one of the original "upgraded" UV-5Rs from here at Revain ($35 deal including extended battery). I have to say that the BF-F8 looks a little rougher than the original, a little more robust. The plastic also generally has a better finish, giving it a nicer look. I was afraid the silver speaker grille would look ridiculous, but I was impressed by how good it actually looks in person. the sound sounds nice and clear. Speaker quality isn't bad, which is to be expected from HT. It definitely gets louder as you crank it up, but it also sounds worse when you crank the volume to its max. The included larger battery is good, it serves as a backup for my extended battery (I bought an extra one for the BF). -F8, so I now have one for both of my radios.) One thing I would like to say about the BF-F8's extended battery is that it fits tighter than the original, you have to put in some effort to pack the battery to get . to connect, but once connected there is no problem with functionality, you can easily delete and reconnect. I'm very happy with this purchase, I've bounced around a lot between all the different UV5R options and I'm glad I went with this one. The quality of the BTech radios seems pretty good, I assume these are Baofeng radios with better quality control and customer service? Anyway, if you are thinking about which baofeng to buy, just choose this one. The only other thing I would consider at the moment is the UV-5X3 tri-band version, again another BTech radio if you're looking for that extra functionality.
