The Chinese continue to delight - yes it's real

The radio is an almost complete copy of the Baofeng UV-5R. My review of the Baofeng UV-5R Except for some details. It still has 2 VHF, UHF bands. 136.00-174.00 MHz 400.00-480.00MHz Ideally, to use a walkie-talkie, you need to get a radio amateur category. Because the walkie-talkie allows you to go on the air on special. frequencies, and has a high output power up to 5W. But if you do not have a category, then no one forbids you to work on authorized, license-free LPD and PMR frequencies. Now

Pros
  • Design, price, reliability
Cons
  • Not the best reception/transmission quality

The perfect experiment for CB and talkback radios

I'm a brand new ham. I wanted to get a radio that is barely good enough without spending too much money. After much research I gave up on the UVR5 despite the near perfect price. Too many signs of trouble. I didn't want to spend $150 on a radio only to find I didn't like this hobby, plus tons and tons of bells and whistles if I don't know what I'm doing is a waste of time. I finally got to this radio, very small and cheap like the UVR5 but with a little more power, a little more range, a little

Good radio: Radios

I have both an HP BF-F8 and one of the original "upgraded" UV-5Rs from here at Revain ($35 deal including extended battery). I have to say that the BF-F8 looks a little rougher than the original, a little more robust. The plastic also generally has a better finish, giving it a nicer look. I was afraid the silver speaker grille would look ridiculous, but I was impressed by how good it actually looks in person. the sound sounds nice and clear. Speaker quality isn't bad, which is to be expectedโ€ฆ

Buy UV-5X3 instead of BF-F8HP

Still the power of this radio is 8W. Buy UV-5X3 instead. I have both the BF-F8HP and UV-5X3 and run them at the same time every day. I also have a Yeasu VX-6R. The firmware on the BF-F8HP is buggy and doesn't allow you to change some settings from the keyboard (they just aren't saved even if "confirm" is written). UV-5X3 has almost the same interface. but it really works. I use the chirp programming software for BF-F8HP, UV-5X3 and VX-6R, all 3 program without problems. I will not compare theโ€ฆ

So far so good, my advice to buyers is spend $20 on one.

So far so good, my advice to buyers is spend $20 on the right programming cable. Use CHIRP software and you can easily program the radio automatically instead of manually; This is a HUGE time saver. Now I'm studying for a technician's license so I have the ability to broadcast and socialize, but for now I only hear the traffic in my area. Invest in a better portable antenna (dual band) and one for your car and you will have more flexibility and enjoyment from this radio; I bought Nagoya NA-771โ€ฆ
