I left a very grateful and positive review comment back in April right before I bought it. This review praised this product for running great in the 2009 Jetta. This was a very influential review as it accurately described my situation with my 2009 GTI and the inconvenience of the iPod/iPhone dock in the center armrest. (It is almost impossible to connect your Apple device to it without an adapter cable). This is the second cable I've tried and it worked great until two days ago. So overall this is the best product of its kind that I have used in my VW and I would highly recommend it but I was disappointed. In just 4 months. I ignored the bad reviews about this product when I bought it because there were so many positive reviews and I thought I should give it a try. fits perfectly and without problems on the ipod interface. You don't have to use 2 hands or twist your neck to look into the armrest and align it correctly. You can connect the cable without looking while driving. The length of the cable is also comfortable. While it's too long, it's far better than one so short your iPod/iPhone literally hangs over the console. I've seen a lot of these short ones and they just don't work with cars like mine with a dock in the armrest. I just wrapped the excess with a rubber band and that was fine with me. It's also nice to be able to charge your phone at the same time if needed, as this cable only requires an "in-line" connection. Cons: Up until two days ago, there were no cons. Sound came in and out of the left speaker. I checked the cable connection and it was fine. I can twist the end of the cable that connects to my iPhone to fix it, but it's very delicate and any slightest movement or bump will reset it. Very annoying and not worth the effort. I'll see if I can get a free replacement. FOLLOW-UP: The seller agreed to replace it for me at no cost. However, after a few days it worked normally again, so I never sent it back. Since then it hasn't given me any more problems. I'm changing my rating from 2 to 4 stars as this is the best converter I've found so far and fits the cumbersome setup of my VW GTI. I would give 5 stars if I was sure it wouldn't cause me any more problems.
