I bought two of these to replace the cheap kite grips that came with my kites. I'm so glad I did! Reels are much easier to use than handles. You have more control over the kite and don't have to worry about one hand getting tired and they fold easily with one hand when launching the kite. Also, this reel has a rope attached to the reel, which is really important! (I think that's just common sense, but I know there are some coils that don't.) I used this coil on a green kite (pictured) which is a relatively powerful kite, too powerful for a Kind, and Cord and Clip got up with no problem. This kite needs to fly high and has two 35ft tails. It worked very well. I can't even imagine ever using all 500 feet of rope. A very important note: we have a very small butterfly kite that we tried it on and it didn't work. It was too hard. This kite flies great with the included small handle, but it doesn't fly with this reel. I can't blame the coil; It's not made for that. BTW, if you loosen your grip and let the kite pull out, the handles on the spool can heat up like a rope burn to your skin, but that's not the spool's fault. or. It's just physics.
