The first one I got was a gift for work. This is your default glass. My reasons for buying it are (well, this is my second one and the first one is still fine): I can wash the inside without additional special tools because of the large mouth opening. I'm not sure if some people's hands will fit all the way in, but a standard sponge might still do, even if you have large hands. May be. Depends on how you feel about cleanliness and what kind of liquid you pour into it. I drink a lot of tea and wanted one for my black tea and one for my herbal tea, so I think I'm addicted to tea. However, I hate waiting for it to be brewed and cool enough to drink. I have found that in my region (which may be colder/warmer than yours) after pouring boiling water and removing or leaving the tea bag --- after 6 hours with TOP OPEN, the beverage is as warm as roasted is, but does not burn perfectly. If I infuse it completely and with tea and let it stand for 8-12 hours, it cools down to room temperature either at TOP OPEN. The reason I don't have a rough estimate of closed lid time is that the heat pressure just bothers me, so I always vent the jar with the lid open. The construction is solid. This is NOT leak proof.
