Lots of ports in a rugged, compact package

Just as I was about to buy a slightly bigger brother to this TB3 dock, this new model was released and made available on Revain. I'm glad I waited because it's the perfect combination of functionality and ergonomics. It's much more compact than it appears in the product photos and looks great and the packaging is very good. The space gray color matches the MacBook perfectly. Setup was easy as my 13 inch MacBook (2016 without touch panel) recognized it immediately. A nice touch of pluggable, including an active DP to HDMI adapter, although I found using a DP cable from the DP port to my monitor offered a smoother experience. Waking up from sleep mode. (Sometimes this monitor would not boot up after rebooting the laptop. Using a DP cable fixed this issue.) Other than that, no complaints. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a solid TB3 docking station that offers a good mix of ports and easy multi-monitor connectivity.

Pros
  • Free for educational use
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than other docks
