Review on Highpoint RocketStor 6114V Raid 5 USB 3.1 Gen 2 4-Bay Storage Enclosure by Aaron Cruz

This product is great for storing backups.

HighPoint RocketStor 6114V 4-Bay Raid 5 USB 3.1 Gen 2 Storage Enclosure This product is great for storing backups. I don't use the specified RAID 5 support, instead I configured two RAID 1 arrays. They are used to secure heavily modded TES/Fallout game rigs (if you mod these series you can probably see why I'm doing this). I cherish what little free time I have and would rather not spend it trying to recover lost files if something goes wrong (almost guaranteed - Bethesda fans get it). 10G capability allows hard drives to run at maximum speed, significantly speeding up file transfers. This is important if you don't want to waste your time with cheaper solutions. The RAID utility's advanced options are very convenient and offer many features for those who want to get acquainted with the technology. I particularly like the ability to check RAID arrays and disks for errors (which you can also schedule). The more rest the better. Works great with 3 systems - an old Gigabyte-based IBuyPower gaming PC running Windows 8 (via USB-CA adapter cable), an ASUS ROG laptop running 8.1 Pro x64, and a new work computer. HP laptop running Windows 10 Home x64 (although this was for testing purposes only). This item doesn't come cheap compared to other USB RAID devices, but it's certainly still considered value for money. RAID performance and features aren't typically associated with USB, build quality is good, and the device is surprisingly quiet. I would recommend this to anyone who has hobbies that require a lot of secure storage.

Pros

Cons
  • Crumpled Packaging
