Every other seam ripper I've ever seen had a cap. This one doesn't, although one of the photos shows a cap. I thought the cap was on the end of the ripper in the package to show the working end of the ripper. Not correct. In addition to protecting the sharp point, a cap is often used to increase the length of the ripper, making it much easier to use and also lost. I feel ripped off, no pun intended. I've had great faith in Singer products over the years and now an inexpensive accessory has made up for all that goodwill. I hope it was worthwhile to include the lid.
