My little one is very active - he just wants to run and be outside in our yard, jump in muddy puddles, play in the gravel, walk in the grass or walk down the street with us. I bought him another pair of shoes that looked like cute sneakers but he tripped over them. I needed a reliable backup. I bought them in gray to hide the dirt and see how it goes. We never went back to the shoes I bought "for the looks". It's cute but also functional. I've washed and tumble dried them 10 times. They are very easy to put on and take off and show no dirt. I have complimented her on several occasions. I will most likely buy them again in other sizes/colors as he gets older. If you're on the fence, get them!
