Notebooks are really difficult to scale. When the camera is up, your background is the ceiling. When the camera is at the bottom of the screen, your nostrils are clearly visible in your picture. This stand is the only variable-height stand tall enough to use an external keyboard underneath. My laptop is 5 inches high at the front and 8 inches at the back. Easy to read screen and ideal for zooming. (It's not very comfortable to type on, but I have an external keyboard for that.) At this height, it's easier to read the screen all day. No neck strain, less eye strain. The height adjustment is done by friction on the joints of the device, they are strong and durable. I hope they age better than my joints. The price for a pair of aluminum plates is a bit high, but it's the only one that does its job perfectly, so it's worth it for me.
