Good alternative to dobie sponges

We bought these natural loofah sponges as a more sustainable alternative to the plastic dobie sponges we've been using for years. Here's how they compare: PROS: Of course, compostable loofahs are much better for the environment than petrochemical-based Dobies. Also, the loofah is much more durable (our first one lasted 2.5 months) and we haven't had any issues with mold or bad odor. Dobies, on the other hand, tend to form holes in the cleaning cap quite quickly and can sometimes start to smell after prolonged use. Loofah handles scraping and scrubbing just as well as Dobie, and the washcloth seems easier to clean - Dobie can get dirty fairly easily, while Loofah doesn't (it discolors over time, but evenly, so not very noticeable). CONS: Loofah is inherently stiffer than Doby, making cleaning awkwardly shaped items or delicate glassware a little more of a challenge. With a little practice it didn't matter much, and over time the loofah became softer and more pliable. The one area where the Dobie is clearly better is in dish soap storage and lathering. Loofah absorbs soap well but doesn't lather very well (compared to Dobie). So you either need to use more soap, add soap more often, or you can live with less suds. Conclusion: Luffa wins. It's not perfect, but it's a good mop that's a lot greener and lasts longer (you don't have to replace it nearly as often). If you ever wrap up a loofah sponge, we probably have the perfect dish soap. Until then, natural loofah sponge scrubbers are the next best thing.
