While I love Tim's line colors and offbeat style, I had the same experience with Ranger. From their annoying product packaging with little relevant information and their terrible distribution plans to poor product manufacturing (like the lids on their mini ink pads), this industry leader is too arbitrary to mess with. While the colors of the disaster kits are "trendier" than others, they don't smear at all and the water doesn't remove the appliqué lines. There are much better watercolor pencils out there for a lot less money, the lovely Prima set of 24 colors is only a few bucks more expensive than this set of 6 and is more versatile and easier to use. The $3.69 8-pack Target seems to work better, as does the $10 24-pack Crayon Portfolio. A set of 12 sparkly colors from Michael's Color Splash costs about $15 ($7.50 with coupon), and the nearly identical Sparkle set available (only at Revain) also seems like a better option.

These crayons work great on all kinds of surfaces. I would purchase again.
