When I first started looking for a new phone to replace my Redmi 4, I decided to get one that was relatively small but had a large battery. I was not successful in locating a suitable replacement, unfortunately. Xiaomi is no longer in the business of manufacturing compact phones (not even non-Note is still a shovel like this one), phones with a metal shell, and phones that have an outstanding battery capacity to size ratio. It would appear that this is the final Xiaomi product I will purchase. I immediately rooted the phone due to the excessive amounts of bloatware. In addition, TWRP backups are automatically performed on Android 9, and any unnecessary backups can be deleted. You are able to install Android 10, but it is encrypted, and I was unable to encrypt it. I cannot backup an encrypted phone because of this. My backups are very essential to me, therefore I reverted to Android 9 so that I could save my data. As of Android 10, encryption is already the default setting, and it is quite difficult to disable. I have decided not to upgrade to Android 9 due to the presence of advertising software as well as the inability to create backups. Overall, the phone is solid, however some people have reservations about it. Since I was unable to locate an equivalent substitute for the "old" small capacious metal phones with straightforward androids, the option of selecting a phone remains open.
