First off, let me say that I'm a fan of arcade joysticks. I've been playing fighting games for almost 30 years. I still play competitively and have won several local tournaments. With this I know how to get around some fighting sticks. I have several Razer sticks, Madcatz, MAAS, Hori and many other universal sticks like the Mayflash family of sticks. I still have my old Pelican Universal Arcade joystick for old Xbox/PS2/Game Cube consoles. My first impression of this joystick is that it feels solid and has a very good design. You can change the inner workings of this stick by opening the case with the included hex screwdriver. It's not as easy to dig into the innards as, say, a competitor in this category, the PXN-X9 Stick (which looks, feels, and performs exactly like the Mad Catz TE2), but it's still pretty easy. Unlike the PXN-X9, this joystick doesn't have a lid-based housing that allows access to internal components. It's no slap against it, just something to consider before buying. Appearance: This stick is aesthetically pleasing to look at. I like the angled design and the tapered descent from the top of the stick down. It mimics the arcade cabinets of the old days. The buttons and joystick are black, made by Sanwa and of excellent quality. The buttons are very responsive and the joystick is nice and clicky. The image under the plexiglass can be removed and replaced with everything else provided you need a template for the front of the stick which can be found online. Weight: This stick has a decent weight. It's not as heavy as the PXN-X9 stick, but heavy enough to stay in place on your lap while plating. If you prefer not to play on your lap, it has rubber feet that keep it stable on a flat surface like a gaming table. Compatibility: Well, as advertised, this joystick will work with almost anything you need it for. I can confirm that it works on both the consoles it's listed for and PC. I've been playing Street Fighter Alpha 2 with this stick for a long time and it worked really well! Bad news for those who want to use this joystick for their PS4 or Xbox One, you MUST use the control panel to connect this joystick to the console. Not to mention you MUST press the sync button to start the connection. Any of you who were hoping this would work with a Magicboots dongle to bypass the need to actually plug in the control panel is out of luck. I can confirm that the MagicBoots key DOES NOT WORK with this flash drive. That's a slap in the face compared to the PXN-X9 stick. Answer (Input Lag): Well, before anyone yells that this joystick is slow, they should make sure they are using this joystick on a screen with a decent refresh rate. . I encountered this problem early on when I was playing on the computer upstairs in the living room. This PC is connected to a 75-inch Vizio P Quantum 4K TV. I ran my emulator games on it and when playing Street Fighter Alpha 2 I noticed significant input lag. I was missing the inputs and combos that I can usually easily pull off. I checked my settings in Ubuntu and found that the refresh rate was set to 60Hz. When I switched it to 120Hz, the input lag was no longer noticeable. I'd say that without that refresh rate or switching the display to gaming mode, you might notice input lag when playing games on the TV. Didn't notice this when playing on my regular monitors below on my PC. Overall: Apart from not being compatible with the Magicboots dongle, I can say that this is a great joystick for good PC emulation games or even some new fights. Play games you can get on PC. If given a choice of a versatile arcade joystick I would choose the PXN-X9 over this joystick, but lately they seem hard to come by and overpriced when you can find them. I bought this stick for $129 which I think is reasonable but it should probably be closer to $99. I paid $160 for the PXN-X9, which I think is a bit pricey considering there are better options for just $40 more, but I wanted a generic joystick. If this joystick cost anywhere from $89-$99 and would work with a Magicboots dongle, I would rate it a lot higher. Can I recommend this joystick? Yes, but only as long as you know what you're getting and what other universally compatible stick options you have and what additional features they offer. If you can live without open access to the innards and the sweet use of a Magicboots dongle to play on a console, then go ahead. If not, you have other options that may better suit your needs, possibly at a lower cost.
