Pros and cons of doors

Paid full price for this and chose this after researching dozens of similar products. I installed it about a month. It won't work for everyone, but it's perfect for a screened porch and I love it. Pros and Cons: Yes, it is very thin and flimsy. In addition, the seal is not perfect and the door does not always close tightly. But because the door doesn't hang tightly, our dogs can also open and close it very easily and have been trained in a day or two. Now that they're used to it I can add a strong magnet for a tighter fit. The unusual shape actually makes sense: it conforms to the dog's body shape, and the unusual angle helps the door close on its own. Size: We have a 16 lb Dachshund/Beagle mix and a 30 lb lab mix. Both get in and out with no problems. The door is light enough for our small dog to push and our large dog fits in easily. I think it even fits slightly larger dogs. Installation: The instructions say to cut the screen and then save the cut piece to snap into the door. Luckily I had a screen roll so it wasn't necessary and I didn't have to remove the door to install it. But we use a tight pet mesh so the door doesn't just "snap" open. I had to use a screwdriver to carefully manipulate the screen holes around each pin. Overall I would buy these again. We open the porch door from our house to let in the breeze and now we can keep the porch door closed while the dogs have free access to the yard. Despite some gaps in the seals I would say that we get almost no bugs with it, definitely less than before because it stops all flying bugs and we don't always open and close the door.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Great deal
