Good door, DYIer special. Responsible for planning and execution.

good One problem is that you actually have to remove the screen door to install it. Cutting rectangular slots for the hinges is an important step. Use masking tape to secure half of the door in place for an accurate cut and position. Also, covering the bottom half of the dog door with painter's tape will prevent scratches when you hammer/press the two halves together. Halves A and B are simply halves that you place under the screen. Then cut out the slots for the hinges, then snap the two…

Great concept, fairly easy installation

I wish they made it out of a little more durable material. One of my "latches" (holding the two pieces together) keeps popping out, but there are many more that hold it together properly. I can use rivets or small screws to hold the two pieces together more tightly. Overall I am very happy with the pet door. This is an innovative design that makes it quick and easy to insert a pet door directly into our sliding screen door. Before installing this cat, they scratched the screen (and the spline…

Our cats love it. also the neighbor's cat.

Our cats got it right away. I got this because the cats went upstairs to let them out and left the sliding glass door and screen open to let the flies in. The cats love it. Even one of our neighborhood cats loves it when she comes over and crunches on our cat's toy bowl. I had a guy fix our screens to install it ($30 labor cost). Seeing the difficulty he was having removing and installing the sliding wall, I was glad I hadn't tried it myself. He told me that if you don't make cuts where the…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • I have no negative feelings about it, everything is fine

When I received this door for the first time, I was a bit skeptical. I chose to mount the door with the screen on the track, unlike some other reviewers who removed the screen from the track prior to installation. My wife and I worked together on this setup which made the process a lot easier. Depending on the thickness of your screen, you may need to use a razor or grinder to cut holes for the "pins" to pop out, this has happened to me. After cutting out all the holes I was able to attach the…

Great Cat Door - Doors

This is a great (mesh) cat door that I would buy again. Delivery and price satisfied. However, the installation is not without problems. Both sides of the frame fit together, but it wasn't as easy as it sounds - my nylon grille (which I reinstalled for the door) was the standard gauge, I think. But in order for both sides of the door to snap into place (the pins have to pierce through the screen material) I had to use an Exacto knife to "cut" the screen material at every point where the pins…

Pros and cons of doors

Paid full price for this and chose this after researching dozens of similar products. I installed it about a month. It won't work for everyone, but it's perfect for a screened porch and I love it. Pros and Cons: Yes, it is very thin and flimsy. In addition, the seal is not perfect and the door does not always close tightly. But because the door doesn't hang tightly, our dogs can also open and close it very easily and have been trained in a day or two. Now that they're used to it I can add a…

Not for metal grilles

With aluminum grilles, the door stays where you leave it; Gravity is not enough to close it as the hinges are sticky. The principle of operation of the hinge is that both the inner (pin) and outer (barrel) parts are divided into two halves. So if the frames don't connect completely, the pin will be thicker and rub against the barrel. With my metal screen, the frames protrude everywhere except for the attachment points. Below are ASCII graphics showing what the hinge should look like when viewed
