Using a 3 " extension tube is not recommended.
We didn't like that it had to be from a batch size that wasn't manufacturer size OR they measured 3" around the outer circumference instead inside. The 3" unit bought from a local shop fitted perfectly and installed, it was just a bit short. We ordered this longer one and it didn't fit even after some sanding.
