Review on Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L USM lens, black by Mohamad Yusri ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best price for such a product, I will buy more!

I often read reviews on the net that it is simply not reasonable to overpay such an amount for the difference between f / 1.4 and f / 1.2, while some manage to compare the Canon EF 50 f / 1.2 L with Sigma 1.4! After the first trials of 50 f/1.2, I realized how wrong everyone is and how far from the truth. The colors and sharpness characteristics of the lens can only be compared with 135 2L. Canon EF 50 f/1.2 L - does not draw, he paints oil paintings. In the f/1.2 - f/1.6 interval, simply amazing voluminous female portraits are obtained, which, if necessary, require minimal fine-tuning. The Canon 135 f/2L is a sharper, more masculine portrait in this regard. The amazing abilities of the Canon EF 50 f/1.2 L have been discovered in the landscape genre even at f/1.2, not bad results are obtained when using a gradient and polarizing filter. The lens works great both in full format - 5D, and on crop - 50D.

Pros
  • To understand all the advantages of the Canon EF 50 f / 1.2 L, you need to start testing with a younger copy of the 50 1.8 II
Cons
  • At short distances, from 0.5 to 1.5 meters, strange things happen with focusing, the more you stop the aperture, the more focus goes into the back. On the forums, for a similar effect of individual specimens (manifestation of design features), the lens was dubbed as "shift-focus".
